SUMMARY:Ukrainian Center to host “Haytarma” at St. Anthony Main
DESCRIPTION:The Ukrainian American Community Center\, in partnership with the MSP Film Society and the International Committee for Crimea\, will host a free screening of “Haytarma\, the Return\,” Wednesday\, May 15\, 7-9 pm\, at the Saint Anthony Main Theatre\, 115 Main St. SE. \nThe film is the first and only full-length feature film about Joseph Stalin’s 1944 deportation of the Crimean Tatars from their homeland of Crimea. The screening commemorates the 75th anniversary of the deportation\, which resulted in the death of 46% of the Crimean Tatar population\, and is meant to honor the memory of its victims. The film is in Russian and Crimean Tatar with English subtitles. \nFollowing the film\, there will be a question and answer session with Crimean experts and Crimean Tatars now living in the United States.
