SUMMARY:Strike Theater Picnic and Derby Day
DESCRIPTION:Grab a blanket and chair for the first-annual Strike Theater Picnic and Derby fundraiser at Logan Park\, 690 13th Ave. NE\, Saturday\, July 31. They are raising money to make up for nearly 15 months of closure so they can reopen this fall. Tickets get you entrance and a picnic lunch – which includes burgers or hot dogs (meat and veggie options)\, chips\, sides\, pop or water. The Derby invites adults and kids to race on stick horses. Make your own (a mop with some eyes works\, but truly let your creativity go wild – there will be prizes for awesomest horses) otherwise\, they will have a few handy. The races won’t be far\, people of all abilities are welcome. If you’re up for it\, dress in your best old-timey Kentucky Derby attire (top hats\, floppy hats\, white gloves). There will be prizes for the best costumes. Adult lunch is $15 and derby entry is $5; kids get lunch and horses races for $5. This is a family friendly event. No alcohol allowed. Picnic and yard games run from 12-3; horse races start at 1:30; awards given at approximately 2 pm.
