DESCRIPTION:Baby Storytime: For children birth-24 months and their caregivers. Talk\, sing\, read\, write\, and play together. Share books\, stories\, rhymes\, music\, and movement in a format especially designed for babies. Siblings welcome. Fridays\, 9:30-10 am. \nFamily Storytime: For children birth-5 years old and their caregivers. Talk\, sing\, read\, write and play together. Share books\, stories\, rhymes\, music\, and movement. Siblings welcome. Fridays\, 11 -11:30 am. \nChess Club: All ages and skill levels are welcome. Learn the basics of chess\, improve your game\, master strategies\, and meet other chess fans. Equipment provided. Welcome walk-ins. Every Thursday\, 4:30-6:30 pm. \nBusiness Consultations/Consulta de Negocios: A representative from the City of Minneapolis will meet with business owners and entrepreneurs to share resources and assist those who want to start\, maintain or expand a business in the City of Minneapolis (e.g. financing\, city regulations and business technical assistance). Assistance is available in English and Spanish. Asistencia disponible en inglés y español. Collaborator: City of Minneapolis Small Business Team. No appointment necessary. 2nd Thursday of the month\, 2-4 pm. \nCoffee and Conversations: Join library staff and fellow patrons for relaxed conversation over coffee and tea. Feel free to bring a craft to work on\, book to read\, or game to play. Sponsor: Friends of the Hennepin County Library. Every 2nd Tuesday of the month\, 10-11 am. \nWearable Art: Entering grades 4-8. Participants will explore various shirt design techniques and create their own wearable masterpieces by painting (acrylic) or heat-pressing a custom design onto a shirt. Note: Youth will create original designs in the first 30-60 minutes. Those who arrive late can choose from a number of stencils. Materials provided. Collaborator: COMPAS Arts. Sponsor: MELSA (Metropolitan Library Service Agency). Thursday\, June 25\, 2-4 pm. \nLEGO® Lab: Calling all future engineers and architects! The library has the bricks\, you bring your imagination. No experience necessary. Saturday\, July 25 and Aug. 4\, 2-4 pm. \nBring Your Own Book Club: Entering grades 2-7. Join other kids to talk about great books and make progress toward summer reading goals. Quiet reading time\, followed by group book discussion and a fun activity. Bring your own book or pick one of the library’s. No advanced registration is required. Sponsor: Friends of the Hennepin County Library. July 28\, and Aug.4\, 2-3 pm. \nRead With an Animal: K-grade 5. Cuddle up with a certified therapy dog and practice reading aloud. Sign up when you arrive for a 15-minute slot. First come\, first served. Collaborator: PAWS to READ is a program of North Star Therapy Animals (NTSA). All handlers are required to be trained in an additional children’s reading program that focuses on utilizing registered therapy animals. Saturday\, Aug. 8\, 1-2:30 pm. \nSummer STEM Event with Twin Cities PBS: Entering PreK-grade 3. Join Twin Cities PBS for a free\, family-friendly event with science and literacy-aligned activities and a meet-and-greet with a costumed character from PBS KIDS programs Skillsville or Hero Elementary.
