SUMMARY:Is it time to remove some Twin CIties dams and restore the Mississippi River Gorge?
DESCRIPTION:In 2022\, the Army Corps of Engineers will begin studying the future of two Twin Cities locks and dams: Lower St. Anthony Falls and Lock and Dam No. 1 (the “Ford dam”). One potential future outcome is removal of these dams and restoration of the Mississippi River Gorge. This presentation will explain what will be studied\, potential pros and cons of dam removal\, and what to expect from the Army Corps process. There will be plenty of time for Q&A and discussion.This event is hosted by the Above the Falls Community Advisory Committee; Colleen O’Connor Toberman from Friends of the Mississippi River will give the presentation.
