SUMMARY:Event to Help the Homeless Connect to Resources
DESCRIPTION:The Heading Home Anoka Housing Collaborative will host an event to help the homeless: Anoka Community Connect: Building Opportunities\, Strengthening Communities. The event will be 10 am-6 pm\, Thursday\, Oct. 25 at the Church of St. Timothy\, 707 89th Ave. NE\, Blaine. The goal is to provide 100 guests who may be struggling with homelessness\, or are precariously housed\, the opportunity to be connected to resources and services they need to thrive. Haircuts\, wellness checks\, resume building\, application assistance for benefits and childcare\, and a job fair where employers will hire people on the spot are some of the services that will be offered. \nThe Salvation Army and other partners will provide transportation\, stops will be made around the county at public buildings to ensure everyone who wants to attend has a way to get to the event. Visit anokacommunityconnect.weebly.com for more information on Anoka Community Connect or to sign up as a volunteer. Volunteers may help with setup or takedown\, direct traffic\, greet visitors\, help attendees through the event\, provide childcare\, hand out box lunches and aid with general cleanup. \n
