During the Open Streets event Aug. 7, John Akre ran his Animation Station asking passersby to talk about what’s below the surface in Minneapolis. “Literally, or figuratively?” someone asked. “Either!” The results of “Minneapolis Beneath the Asphalt Part 5: Open Streets Northeast” are at www.johnakre.com.
The Animation Station was set up outside of Two12 Pottery and Gifts on 13th Avenue NE. Several other streets in Northeast were shut down for six hours to encourage walkers and bicycle riders to enjoy about a two mile expanse free of motorized vehicles. Watch for photos from the various venues in the slide show on this site.
