A new coffee shop in Columbia Heights! Community Grounds, at 560 40th Ave NE, has been on the scene since late July, serving breakfast and lunch items. They’re celebrating with a grand opening September 9, 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. Live music, coffee and food samples, tea brewing demonstration, and more. The shop, although a separate business entity, is a project of Heights Church and is open 6 a.m. through 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday – on Sunday it serves as a meeting space for church services.
The Eastside Food Co-op at 2551 Central Ave. NE will celebrate the completion of their store remodeling with an all-day event 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. Ribbon cutting, live music, food, beverages, games and more.
Amy and Chrissy Kelsch, the sisters who own Empire Coffee and Pastry, 451 Stinson Blvd. NE, are expanding to a second location at the Highlight Center at 807 Broadway St. NE (the former Minneapolis Public Schools building).
