Rest assured, The Barber Sharp is still in business, just right-sized. Three barber chairs are now located in the center of the building at 349 13th Ave. NE, accessible through the courtyard. The front will become a coffee shop, targeting to open in April. The changeover took place in late January-early February. New signage is coming.
And upstairs: Wanderlust Vintage Market, which from about September consisted of an adapted school bus that literally wandered from event to event…and will return during Art-A-Whirl at the new location on 13th. The store sells antique furniture – much of which was scouted in the U.K., according to co-owner Lindsay Jones. Co-owner Aaron McMenamy makes repurposed, upcycled and industrial décor such as lights made from pipes and vintage glass. There’s lots of vintage décor, and albums for $3 apiece. Liz Schewe, City Stone Studio, designs the jewelry you’ll see throughout the store. Contac: 612-466-0785, www.wanderlustvintagemarket.com. Hours are Thursday – Saturday: 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Sunday: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Outside the Central & Lowry Subway sandwich shop, the pile of foundation stones sitting up against a tree told the story: Yes, someone plowed through the glass, and they’ve had to construct a wood enclosure where the windows used to be. The place is open during re-construction, though.
Papa Murphy’s Take N Bake Pizza moved from Silver Lake Village to the St. Anthony Shops (shopping center), 2931 Pentagon Drive. With the library re-opened there, and an assortment of other fine shops, food options, and services, the center should be hopping!
