Dandelion Day Celebration
May 21 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The 29th annual Dandelion Day celebration, Sunday, May 21, 1-4 p.m., at the Ard Godfrey House, located in Chute Square at the corner of University and Central avenues SE, will celebrate Harriet Godfrey’s introduction of dandelion seeds to the St. Anthony Falls area. Participants can tour the historic Ard Godfrey house, with hostesses dressed in 1850s period costume, and learn how to make dandelion necklaces, bracelets, and crowns. There will be face painting and temporary tattoos of dandelions, complimentary recipe booklets, and free Godfrey buttons for kids. Admission is free but donations are welcome.
Dandelion Day marks the beginning of the summer tour season at the Ard Godfrey House. The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis restored the Ard Godfrey House, Minneapolis’ oldest surviving wood frame house. It’s been open to the public since 1979. Tours are available June 4-Aug. 27, Saturdays and Sundays, 1-4 p.m. Info: 612-781-8791 or womansclub.org.
