Columbia Heights License Center closing July 19-24
Anoka County’s Columbia Heights License Center will close for remodeling beginning at noon, Wednesday, July 19. The closure coincides with Minnesota Department of Driver and Vehicle Services’ installation of a new computer system, which will require all statewide motor vehicle offices — including all five Anoka County license centers — to close July 20-24.
The new system – the Minnesota Licensing and Registration System (MNLARS) — will standardize and simplify processes, reduce paperwork, improve security, and enhance customer convenience. Customers may initially notice longer wait times as MNLARS is implemented. With the new system, transactions will be recorded in real time so customers won’t need to carry proof of transfer while waiting for the paper copy of the title from the state. Customers will receive a title in 2-3 weeks instead of 8-12.
Regular business hours will resume July 25 at all Anoka County License Centers, located in Ramsey, Coon Rapids, Ham Lake, Blaine, and Columbia Heights. Hours and directions: anokacounty.us/license.
