Book it to the Parks

Love reading, summer, Minneapolis parks, and Minnesota Public Radio? All three combine on Wednesday, June 21, Minneapolis parks citywide will open more than 50 new Little Free Libraries—a gift from The Minneapolis Foundation to local families in honor of Minnesota Public Radio’s 50th anniversary. MPR hosts, local authors, and other guest readers will celebrate by reading children’s books at story times in parks all over the city, from sunrise to sunset on summer’s longest day.
Book donations are welcome – help stock your neighborhood’s newest Little Free Library.
Bring your kids and Book It to the Parks at these times/places in Northeast: Audubon Recreation Center, 1320 29th Ave. NE, 8 a.m., Jo Theodosopoulos reading. She will also be at Waite Recreation Center 1810 34th Ave NE at 4 p.m., Beltrami, 1111 Summer St. NE at 6 p.m., Bottineau Recreation Center, 2000 Second St. NE at 7 p.m., and Windom Northeast Recreation Center, 2251 Hayes St. NE at 8 p.m. Theodosopoulos works at the Minneapolis Foundation and has a library science degree. Rumor has it she’ll be reading Dr. Seuss.
Mid-day events include Jackson Square Park, 2212 Jackson St., noon, Ellen Goldberg Luger reading and Logan Park, 690 13th Ave NE, 2 p.m. with Park Commissioner Liz Wielinski reading.
